A recent IoD survey revealed 63% of business leaders polled said they intended to enable one to four days of remote working per week. Gartner believes 82% of businesses will permit remote working some of the time going forward.
However, reduced reliance on central business offices isn’t as simple to deliver as it might seem, especially for those operating across multiple territories. While organisations ‘got by’ during the pandemic, a more permanent move to a ‘best of both worlds’ hybrid approach can cause headaches that will impact IT, end-users and customers alike.
The physical office isn’t going away, it will be used differently. Organisations should begin preparing themselves for this change, ensuring their networks and underlying infrastructure can handle the performance, security and accessibility challenges that come from a future focused on hybrid working.
